I recently made my first trip to New York, and I really enjoyed how clean, safe, and alive the city is. The people in NY are very warm and friendly, and really caused me to question a lot of the stereotypes about Midwesterners vs. East Coasters. I spent nearly all of my free time just wandering around Manhattan, so I can’t comment a lot on the outlying boroughs, but Manhattan is very nice.
The one big thing that I was able to do was attend a game at Yankee Stadium, and it’s funny what a few days in New York can do to a lifelong Yankee hater.
I took the ‘D’ train from downtown out to the Bronx and got a good ticket from a scalper. Being the last season for “Old Yankee Stadium” (“The House that Ruth Built”), it was great to have the chance to see a game in such a historic park.

It was a beautiful night, and I can’t imagine a better way to see a ball game. Yankee fans are probably some of the greatest fans there are. The stadium was packed, everyone was really into the game, and only a few people got up and left early. Basically, it was a big contrast to other MLB games I’ve attended.
Unfortunately we lost 3-5 to the Indians, but it’s a long season and we can still turn things around. GO YANKS!!
To close, here is a picture of Rowan wearing his new Yankee blue t-shirt. (Sorry for the red eye. Angie’s better at this computer stuff than I am.)

I have to agree, New York is fabulous. I have been there several times and it thrills me evertime I am there.
Kyle you did a great job! Sometimes it's fun to hear from the guys! :) Sounds like you had a wonderful trip!
Sounds to me like someone is a bandwagon jumper!!! Glad you had such a great time. How many more stadiums to visit?? Sounds like a few road trips. Dad
Good job Kyle-it's about time we heard from one of the guys. Your trip sound like it was lots of fun. I know Rowan really missed his dad though.
I was in New York over 30 years ago, the highlight was a bum in the hotel lobby asked me for money or he would cut his head off. I stood there with my mouth open and someone escorted him out of the building. Fun fun. Val
